Authorities in Ohio are investigating an elementary school teacher who was caught on camera grabbing a six-year-old student, according to The Associated Press.

After surveillance footage of the incident went public last week, administrators at Riverdale Local Schools suspended Barb Williams for 10 days without pay.

In the video, Williams is seen pushing the boy up against a wall after he leaves the bathroom. She also grabs him by the face and shirt.

On Wednesday, a sheriff's deputy paid a visit to the boy's home before officially opening an investigation. The sheriff's office told media outlets they hope to finish their case by next week and plan to hand it over to the Hancock County prosecutor.

While the boy's parents are relieved the incident is being investigated, they told ABC News that they want Williams fired.

"We thought it was just a little incident that happened, and that's what the school made it out to sound like," said the boy's father, Anthony Nelson. "And then all of a sudden we get this video today and this is just outrageous"

Eric Hoffman, superintendent of the schools, sent a letter home to parents apologizing for the incident.

However, the Nelsons are not the only ones unsatisfied with Williams' punishment. Dozens of comments on social media sites like Facebook also call for her to be fired.

"She should be fired. Teachers should never put their hands on a child. That little boy had to be scared to death and could do nothing about it. I would also sue the school if they aren't firing her," Pat Crawford said.

Others even suggested pressing charges.

"Everybody seems concerned about grabbing of his face ...what about lifting him off his feet and slamming him again the wall? Would press charges for abuse," Jo Naumann said.
