Its official! after years of nail-biting anticipation, "Big Bang Theory" fans can finally rejoice - Penny and Leonard are engaged.

On Thursday night's episode of the CBS comedy Penny, played by Kaley Cuoco and Leonard, played by Johnny Galecki, return home after a tumultuous day. Penny, who was just fired from the film she was working on, expresses her desire to make smarter choices in life, and then suggests to Leonard that they get married.

"Why? Because I'm a smart decision?" he asks, adding, "I'm the boring thing you're choosing because I'm good for you."

"What does it matter? I'm choosing you!" Penny exclaims.

"It matters a lot. I don't want to be a bran muffin," Leonard whines. "I wanna be a Cinnabon, a strawberry Pop-Tart. Something you're excited about even though it can give you diabetes."

With negotiations out of the way, Penny then explains to Leonard, "Getting fired from that movie was the best thing that could have happened to me. I finally realized that I don't need to be famous or have some big career to be happy."

But when asked what she does need, Penny replies "You, you stupid Pop-Tart!"

After Leonard gets down on one knee and presents a ring to Penny, they embrace and share a sweet kiss - but not before he awkwardly admits to holding the ring in his wallet for several years. After years of dating and four rejected proposals between them, Penny and Leonard will now head for the altar.
