A tire fell off the landing gear of a United Airlines Boeing 777-200 that had just taken off from San Francisco International Airport on Thursday morning, Mar. 7.

United Flight 35 was bound for Osaka but was diverted to Los Angeles due to the incident, NBC Bay Area reported.

As for the tire, it ended up landing in an airport employee parking lot and damaged several vehicles, SFO spokesperson Doug Yakel said.

No injuries were reported.

Video footage obtained by local media captured the moment when the tire from the plane came off the rear landing gear seconds after the plane took off.

Yakel added that the runway was briefly closed to allow crews to clear debris. There was no further impact on airport operations.

According to the airline, a Boeing 777 has six tires on each of its two main landing gear struts. It is designed to land with missing or damaged tires.
