Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis spoke on Wednesday and committed to bringing the price of gas down to $2 by 2025 and rejected the threat of climate change.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis unveiled a new and ambitious energy agenda where he plans to bring down the gas prices in the United States to $2 by 2025.

The Republican lawmaker's vision was shared on Wednesday and was followed by a pledge to unravel President Joe Biden's ongoing efforts to fight climate change. DeSantis also dismissed threats from intensifying weather events as "fear tactics."

Ron DeSantis' Ambitious Energy Agenda

DeSantis made the revelation while speaking in Midland, Texas, where the presidential candidate said that people were "safer than ever from climate disasters." He argued that Democratic lawmakers and Biden were pushing what he called an "ideological agenda."

The Florida governor said that they have seen a concerted effort to ramp up the fear of the people when it comes to issues such as global warming and climate change. DeSantis acknowledged that climate disasters were "problematic" in response to a question about concerns that people have over recent instances of flooding and wildfire smoke, as per CNN.

However, the Republican lawmaker said that the federal action to such threats needs to be a "little more realistic." DeSantis' comments come as various communities worldwide are facing intensifying natural disasters, ranging from wildfires across Canada to historic deadly flooding in Libya.

Additionally, the Florida governor leads a state that is as vulnerable to climate change as any other country in the world. He has taken various steps as governor to harden the state's coastline against rising sea levels.

However, his comments that were made on Wednesday were among the most forceful to date in his continued rejection of the scientific consensus regarding man-made global warming. DeSantis said that they have already dealt with hurricanes in Florida as well as fires.

The Republican's remarks on Wednesday appeared to promise to roll back several of the Biden administration's climate initiatives as he called them part of an agenda to control the people and their behavior, according to the New York Times.

Reversing Biden Administration's Climate Pledges

DeSantis said that the current administration is trying to circumscribe the people's ambitions. He also mentioned his chief rival in the Republican primary, former United States President Donald Trump, during his speech.

The Florida governor promised in a lengthy, six-pronged policy outline to remove subsidies for electric vehicles, take the U.S. out of global climate agreements, and cancel net-zero commitments.

Additionally, DeSantis said that he plans to increase American oil and natural gas production and "replace the phrase climate change with energy dominance" in policy guidance. The Republican spoke from behind a lectern that read "$2 in 2025," which reflected his pledge.

In a press release, DeSantis said that will unleash American energy dominance as a way to cut down inflation and achieve $2 gas prices in 2025. He argued that there needs to be a pro-American energy policy that prioritizes the United States.

The six-pronged plans consists of the following; restoring American energy dominance, saving the American automobile, elevating evidence over ideology, reforming environmental permitting and ending green lawfare, jumpstarting critical mineral and federal land development, and lastly building the most efficient, affordable, and reliable energy grid in the world, said Fox News.
