Former Donald Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway acknowledged that the GOP is struggling to shore up support from young voters, and Twitter users responded by giving out why.

The political adviser had an interview on Monday night where she discussed the Republican Party's electoral chances. During the talks, she admitted hosting Laura Ingraham that the GOP still has "some work to do" to get more support from millennials and Gen Z.

She further claimed that the Democratic Party's success in getting the younger generation to their side was more about messaging than policy. Conway referred to President Joe Biden's plan to enlist social media influencers in his re-election campaign, which has yet to be announced, calling it a "smart strategy," as per Yahoo News.

Conway also told Ingraham that she was concerned that the left would become a "turnout machine" for younger voters in the United States. The political adviser's remarks were more or less accurate as a 2020 NBC exit poll showed that 65% of voters in the 18 to 24-year age range supported Biden, his strongest group by 11 points.

However, the Republican did not fare too badly in getting support from younger voters herself and previously claimed that influencers had a "lemming-like effect." This is where they "want to be part of the same crowd," according to the Daily Beast.

But Twitter users quickly denied that claim as 2020 Biden delegate Victor Shi posted a tweet saying that the GOP would get more young people's support if they "actually do something to address our concerns."

Addressing the Younger Generation's Concerns

The University of California (UCLA) undergraduate argued that instead of taking away their rights and banning books and drag shows, Republicans should listen and enact real policies. Many people also questioned Conway's potential to win the support of younger voters when she already has a turbulent relationship with her daughter.

Claudia Conway, who is 18 years old, posted several political tweets, including some that showed her support for the indictment of former President Donald Trump. She has already made a name for herself as an outspoken critic of conservatives and said that she has been waiting for Trump to face criminal charges since she was 14.

Among various issues, abortion was considered the top one that younger voters prioritized during the 2022 midterm elections. Roughly 44% of younger voters cited abortion as the issue that had the biggest influence on their votes.

On the other hand, Conway said that the Republican Party had to compete for ballots, claiming that the Democrats were only trying to sway younger voters. She argued that the American people would soon catch onto the strategy and instead call for a policy argument, said USA Today.
