Wrestling champion, John Cena has been roped in to play the lead role for the upcoming movie, "Bumbleebee," which is a "Transformers" spinoff. So, the WWE star will be seen sharing screen alongside a younger cast that includes Pamela Adlon, Hailee Steinfeld, Jorge Lendeborg Jr. and Rachel Crow.

John Cena, popular WWE star is all set to feature in the upcoming movie, "Bumblebee" and the wrestler has himself confirmed the news on his Twitter account. He also expressed his happiness and excitement for being a part of the franchise.

It must be mentioned here that the makers of the franchise were looking to add an appeal to the franchise and they believe that the addition of the WWE star will add a fair amount of weight on screen. Reports from Fox News stated that the wrestler has a lot of responsibility on his shoulders as the makers are banking on him to revive the franchise.

Moreover, this will not be the first time that Cena will appear in a movie as he has been a part of several movies in the past. He was seen in movies like "Daddy's Home," "Sisters," "Trainwreck" and the recently released "The Wall," where he shared screen with Aaron Taylor-Johnson.

According to reports from The Hollywood Reporter, the plot of the movie is set during the year, 1987 which is even before the time when the first "Transformers" movie was set in. And, the story will have Charlie, played by Hailee Steinfeld, reviving the autobot, Bumblebee, played by John Cena. Charlie found him in a junkyard, but soon she finds out that the autobot is not an ordinary one.

Notably, this is the first spinoff of the "Transformers" series and it is speculated that the movie will set the foothold for Transformers Cinematic Universe. Directed by Travis Knight, Christina Hodson has written the script of "Bumblebee" that is scheduled to hit theatres on Dec. 21, 2018.
