Latest NBA reports claimed that free agent point guard Derrick Rose just reached an agreement on a one-year deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers. With this, the 2011 MVP is expected to sign his contract with the team as early as Tuesday this week.

With the deal, sources were saying that this is a veteran minimum salary of $2.1 million and this will not only allow Derrick Rose to contend or a championship. Playing with the Cleveland Cavaliers will also provide Rose the chance to play close to his hometown Chicago.

ESPN revealed that the Cleveland Cavaliers met with Derrick Rose as well as his agent B.J. Armstrong before the said contract signing. This is timely if Kyrie Irving would really want to be traded to other teams since Rose partnership with Lebron James will still keep the Cavs afloat as a conference championship contender.

Previous reports claimed that Kyrie Irving wants out of the Cleveland Cavaliers and if this happens, he will leave a point guard spot in the team. But with Derrick Rose, the Cavs can still sustain their performance most especially as a defending champion in the Eastern Conference.

Besides, Derrick Rose reportedly communicated with Lebron James through the process until the deal happened. With this, Lebron James was the first in the Cavs to welcome their new teammate through his Twitter account.

Aside from the Cleveland Cavaliers, Derrick Rose also met with the Los Angeles Lakers and the meeting lasted for almost three hours last Thursday. It was then claimed that the Lakers offered Rose more playing time and money plus a better environment after his unbridled season with the New York Knicks.

Lebron James was disappointed with the close acquisition of Jimmy Butler before but with the arrival of Derrick Rose, it looked like he found some relief. Moreover, it was even reported that James is already considering leaving the team as he's not happy anymore with how things are going on in the Cavs.

Meanwhile, Derrick Rose has been averaging 18 points, 4.4 assists, and 3.8 rebounds during the 2009-2010 season. It is then expected that he will be a great addition to the Cavs which failed to get the NBA Championship title just last season.
