When Marvel teased the launch of "Generations" last month on Twitter, fans had doubts in minds regarding the superheroes. Everyone was speculating if the superheroes would come back and now it has been confirmed.

"Generations" is launching in summer 2017 and now Marvel Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso has answered the doubts of the fans, confirming the return of superheroes. According to ABC News, "Generations" is launching in July and will run through September. There are altogether 10 pairings in the stories and the list has been released as well. Speaking about the iconic pairs and the Marvel universe, Alonso said that they are looking to honor the legacy of the entire universe and therefore, they are taking the iconic legacy heroes and pairing them with the new class.

He also stated that the move indicates where Marvel is going in the future with all of these characters and what the team has been planning for some time for the universe. Interestingly, "Generations" will see these characters going through trials, thereby, shedding light on who they are. When asked if this comic issue is an alternate timeline, he said no and also emphasized that it is not some kind of time-travel story.

Notably, the dual character pairing is a unique concept for Marvel and this is an experiment that would be tested in July. Even Alonso admitted that this is the space they are now testing and playing in. Explaining further he added that characters are not taken off the board with the intention of keeping them off the board forever. One of the tropes of their medium is that characters get a second wind.

This is really great news for fans and quite in sync with the change, Marvel has adopted from last year. Characters like Morales have stepped up as The Spider-Man and Amadeus Cho has also taken up the mantle of Hulk. So, it would be interesting to watch what new metamorphosis and change July brings with the comic issue.
