"Divergent" fans are still hopeful that growing rumors about "Divergent Series: Ascendant" movie being canceled is not true and more likely just speculations. However, there are some fans who are pretty much convinced that the negative feedback of the "Divergent Series: Allegiant" box office hit and reviews sealed the fate for the last installment.

But just recently, Veronica Roth posted an update about her bestselling story. This update has been heavily believed to be the official answer after all the speculations.

Cancellation rumors for publicity only?

Rumor has it that the reason for the proposed cancellation of the "Divergent Series: Ascendant" is because of its low ratings on the big screen, triggering Lionsgate to consider converting the movie into a TV Movie project instead. This news has reportedly upset its stars Shailene Woodley and Theo James, as well as Miles Teller and other cast members. As a result, the original cast reportedly boycotted the project.

Other Rumors about the cancellation

But there were also rumors spreading that the reason behind the cancellation is due to a Shailene Woodley and Theo James feud. Online reports have said that the onscreen duo allegedly had a fight because of Ruth Kearney, Theo's fiancé.

Kearney is rumored to be so upset with the growing closeness of the two stars and is now demanding that the actor should back out and focus on the preparation for their wedding.

However, these reports have recently been debunked, especially now that "Allegiant" has been reported to be a sure thing. With that, reports have also surfaced that the two stars will definitely be returning.

Veronica Roth Changes the Storyline

According to reports, Veronica Roth recently revealed on her Twitter account that she has made an epilogue about one of the characters in the film--Four. The short epilogue entitled We Can Be Mended is supposedly for her own collection only. However, Veronica Roth eventually decided to share it instead.

It now seems like this is a sign that the "Divergent: Series: Ascendant" is still going to be sure things, and stars Shailene Woodley and Theo James will be returning to Tris and Four.
