Lionsgate's science fiction action franchise, The Divergent Series, has already released its three installments and it has been announced that a third sequel, Divergent: Ascendant, is up for a release soon.

Previous reports have stated that the supposed to be fourth film of the Divergent franchise was later considered to be created as a television series because of the poor box office performance of Divergent: Allegiance, released on March this year.

However, fans have been speculating that Ascendant is nowhere close to air on televisions in the near future. In a report by Mstars, the television movie might get cancelled because of lack of cooperation between the original cast from the first three films previously released.

According to the report, actor Theo James, who portrayed Tobias 'Four' Eaton in the previous installments, had reportedly said that he was worried that the Ascendant will suffer the same fate with the preceding movie, Allegiance which failed to do well in the box office.

It has been speculated by fans that for the reason that he will no longer play one of the main character, the production team will find it hard to look for his replacement and it would also be a struggle to re-engage the fans to a new main cast.

Aside from this, it was also rumored that James and another main cast and co-star, Shailene Woodley, are still not talking this time, as per Chatt Sports Net. Woodley portrays the role of main protagonist, Beatrice "Tris" Prior.

It can be recalled that they were once engaged in a feud together with James' partner, Ruth Kearney, until Woodley reportedly decided to stay away from her on-screen partner to avoid more controversies. But as per the source, the two Divergent co-stars are apparently still mum about each other.

Furthermore, reports suggested that the other original cast from the previous films, including Miles Teller and Ansel Elgort, are rumored to backing out from Divergent: Ascendant. This is reportedly because of Lionsgate's decision to reduce the film's budget and turned it into a television movie, pulling it away from the big screen.

However, fans of Theo James and Shailene Woodley tandem are still not sure whether Divergent: Ascendant is really going to get cancelled as the production company and producers haven't actually given an official statement as of this time.
