GoPro Karma stabilizer grip, a gadget that helps stabilize images and videos taken from a camera, is now being sold as a stand-alone product for $299. The tool is of great use to owners of GoPro's cameras, as they need stabilization for the footage they take.

GoPro is marketing the machine as the Karma Grip, and it will support the Hero5 Black also. The owners of other camera models such as the Hero4 Silver, Hero5 Session and Hero4 Black will have to pay $30 for more for a harness for strapping their camera into place. However, the harness will be available in the second quarter of 2017 only.

For an action camera, stabilization is very important in order to smoothen the effects of vibrations and the movements. It is also built to work in strenuous environments. However, the GoPro Hero5 models have an on-board stabilization feature, reports TechTimes.

Karma Grip will run with the help of GoPro software only. The GoPro software tries to smoothen the image as it is being captured. Sadly, the end result is not always good and there are chances that your videos will look like they were shot through jelly.

With the Karma Grip, a GoPro camera will have an external motorized mechanism, which will compensate for the vibrations during the process of video or image capture. Some early hands-on impressions reveal that the device adds high capability to GoPro cameras.

GoPro watchers are probably familiar with the handheld stabilization tool as it was previously bundled with the Karma drone. Though, the drone has been recalled because of several complaints by consumers that tend to lose power mid-flight, causing it to crash. In that case GoPro had offered a full refund along with a Hero5 Black camera as compensation to those who bought the Karma drone bundle.

The Grip will ship with a case and bevy of accessories. At $299, the Karma Grip will be there for Hero 4 camera and at $299 plus the cost of a GoPro camera will have the Hero5 for $399.
