Apple iPhone 6s is reportedly having battery issues when the phone suddenly shuts down and users are nervous enough to consider such thing as a threat to safety the same with that of Samsung Galaxy Note 7 battery explosion.

A Chinese government watchdog is calling out the attention of Apple regarding the battery issues of iPhone 6 handsets.

According to Computer World, Apple has released a statement saying that the battery issues are affecting only a number of iPhone 6s models and the company is not heading towards a global recall of the handsets in opposition to the on-going rumors.

According to Apple, battery faulty component is due to its exposure to air before it is assembled into battery packs. An unexpected shutdown occurs because the battery degrades faster than a normal battery and company says that this is not a safety issue.

For this reason, Apple is offering free of charge fix to select and eligible iPhone 6s models by accessing their customer support issues. This action from Apple is started when a Chinese government watchdog has called out their attention to report faulty battery issues, reports University Herald.

Apple has also reiterated that the problem was hardware related not an iOS 10.1.1 bug that was rumored on internet; it is a theory that gained popularity after the problem was reported with several iPhone models.

Apple has also launched a new tool on Dec. 1 that is allowing users to check whether their iPhone 6s is eligible for a free battery replacement.

Some of the issues experienced by iPhone users for the last decade that were addressed by Apple accordingly are Bendgate, Touch Disease and Antenna Gate. Although these issues do not affect large number of units but represents only a number.

Apple has also offered a solution for the hardware issue assuming that only some iPhone 6s units are affected, several users has pointed out that other iPhone models face the same issues as well. The battery drain seems to affect the iPhone 6, 5s, 5c, 5 and more.
