The third movie of the Star Wars trilogy could be coming to an end after the release of Episode IX.

While some fans thought that Star Wars films are coming out frequently, it has been reported that Lucasfilm Ltd., the production company that produces the film, would reportedly not going to produce Star War movies forever. At least that's what they were saying for now.

Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy told Entertainment Weekly about their team's discussion on whether the 'Episode' films would continue for the later years.

"That's a conversation going on right now," Kennedy said. "I have to honestly tell you, could we do nothing but standalones? Sure. But I don't know. We are looking at all of that."

Because of this, it has been speculated that Star Wars fans could probably look into standalone Star Wars films in the future rather than installments on the franchise.

Independent UK also reported that the president also discussed about the possibility of spinoffs and how the writers have been saving their legendary script for the project. The company apparently felt that the saga films are the trademark but they have no plans yet on how this can evolve.

It has also been reported by Digital Spy that all fans must do is to wait for further announcements since the production team is going to be engaging to a lot of discussions regarding the future of the franchise.

They are reportedly resting for a while as Rogue One, the first standalone in the Star Wars Anthology film is going to be released on Dec. 16, 2016 while Episode VIII is due for release on December 2017.
