Following this, several speculations about the possible movies that will bring home the prestigious Oscar awards are surfacing online. Below are the experts' predictions on who will likely go victorious on the upcoming Academy Awards.

Best Picture

Business Insider reported that the American romantic musical comedy-drama movie released by Summit Entertainment, La La Land, is the frontrunner for next year's Oscars awards. But it is also predicted that Garth Davis' Lions is considered, along with Silence, Moonlight, Sully, Arrival and Jackie.

Best Director

Included in the list of predicted filmmakers that will bag the prize are the directors of the Best picture anticipated winners, namely, Damien Chazelle of La La Land, Garth Davis of Lions, Martin Scorsese of Silence, Barry Jenkins of Moonlight, and Dennis Villeneuve of Arrival, according to a report from Indie Wire.

Best Actress

Multiple sources have claimed that there are quite many Hollywood actress that may be considered for a best actress award on the upcoming Oscars. Gold Derby reported that La La Land actress, Emma Stone, had the highest bid from the critics as of this time.

Following her are Jackie star, Natalie Portman, Ruth Negga from Loving, Annette Benning from 20th Century Women, Amy Adams from Arrival.

Other actresses predicted to be included are Taraji Henson, Jessic Chastain, Isabelle Huppert, Meryl Streep and Jennifer Lawrence.

Best Actor

The actors anticipated to win the best actor award include Manchester by the Sea actor, Casey Affleck, La La Land's Ryan Gosling, Sully star Tom Hanks, Lion actor, Sunny Pawar, and Denzel Washington of Fences.

Best Supporting Actress

According to Huffington Post, these are the actresses that have been eyed for a best actress in a supporting role award on the upcoming Oscars: Viola Davis from Fences, Naomi Harris from Moonlight, Michelle Williams from Manchester by the Sea, Nicole Kidman from Lion, and Felicty Jones from A Monster Calls

Best Supporting Actor

In the running for the best actor in a supporting role awards are Liam Neeson from Silence, Dev Patel from Lion, Jeff Bridges of Hell or High Water, and actor Hugh Grant and Michael Shannon from the movies, Florence Foster Jenkins and Nocturnal Animals, respectively.

Best Animated Feature

It has been predicted that the Walt Disney Animation Studio's 3D animated film, Zootopia, will likely be bringing home the award for best animated feature on the upcoming Oscar Awards. But Sausage Party, Finding Dory, Sing and Kubo and the Two Strings, are also considered.

The 89th Academy Awards final nominations will be announced on January 24, 2017 and the ceremony and announcement of Oscar winners will be on February 26, 2017 on Dolby Theatre, Los Angeles, California.
