Google Home, a new AI-powered voice-enabled speaker, was released by Google to take on the Amazon Echo in the smarthome appliances segment. A battle between the Google Home and Amazon Echo is nothing but a battle between the Google Assistant and Amazon's assistant Alexa.

Amazon Echo

Body: Amazon Echo is built great with the dimensions measuring to 9.25 inches tall and 3.27 inches around. Amzaon Echo is reported to be heavier than the Google Home. Amazon Echo weighs 2.34 pounds and Google Home weighs to 1.05 pounds.

Amazon Assistant: The Amazon Echo responds to the word "Alexa" when called upon and can perform various tasks including music playing, news updates and more.

Audio Capabilities: Amazon Echo launched back in 2015 is equipped with seven microphones with beam-forming technology which has the capability to grasp the user's voice from any direction of the room.

User Controls: A mute button at the back has the same purpose as in Google Home. The control of mute button allows Amazon's assistant to calm down or go away from the always listening state.

Services: Amazon Echo, released one year back has more than 1000 third-party services, 400+ content providers and compatibility with a long range of smart home devices. Amazon's assistant has many smart home device support features like the Philips Hue, Nest, WeMo, Wink, SmartThings, iDevices, Insteon, Prime Music, Spotify (premium), Pandora, TuneIn, iHeartRadio and Audible.

Connectivity: The Amazon Echo also supports WiFi 802.11ac standard with both 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequencies.

Price and colors: Amazon Echo comes with a price tag of 179.99 USD and the colors available are black and white.

Google Home

Body: The newly released Google Home is an AI-powered smart home appliance in the form of speaker. Google Home measures 5.62 inches in height and 3.79 inches around, the upper part is made of polycarbonate and the base is user-replaceable. Google Home is reportedly half the size of Amazon Echo speaker.

Google Assistant: The Google Home's 'My Day' feature helps in getting all the user required information's by going through Google Maps and many other information based sites to keep the user relaxed just by triggering Google assistant which is more than a personnel assistant to the user.

Audio Capabilities: The Google Home is finely developed with two microphones to capture user's voice from almost every direction.  The bottom of the Google Home has high excursion speaker with 2 inch driver and 2 passive radiators to deliver 360° omnidirectional audio to the user.

User Controls: The Google Home is provided with a touchpad at the top and a mute button at the back. The touchpad allows user to control the volume and the mute button to keep the Google Home relaxed i.e. to keep it away from always listening state.

Services: The Google Home support few services like the Google Chromecast, Nest, Phillips Hue, Samsung SmartThings and IFTTT. There are chances of more additions to the smart home integration system by Google Home in the coming future.
