Viewers are definitely going to have a lot more dinosaurs to watch as "Jurassic World 2" Director J.A. Bayona announced that the film is part of a new trilogy.

Previously, Colin Trevorrow, director of the 2015 Jurassic World, mentioned about reviving "Jurassic Park" as a trilogy, and Bayona officially announced that his contribution to the franchise will be the second part of a new trilogy.

"Jurassic World" was one of the biggest hits of 2015 grossing approximately $1.6 billion dollars. Pressure is definitely mounting on Bayona.

In a Latino Review interview, the director talked about the production process of the upcoming movie, including the confirmation that it will be a trilogy.

"The whole Jurassic World is a trilogy that Colin Trevorrow has envisioned. We're writing the second chapter, and it's very interesting where he's leading the story. I grew up watching Steven Spielberg movies and I love those movies and the legacy, so it's a question of being truthful to the legacy and at the same time, bringing new stuff that people will appreciate. We are still six months ahead of shooting, and so far, so good. It's very exciting right now."

Viewers have suspected the trilogy before, but now it is finally official. According to reports, Bayona also stated that they are already working on the script of the upcoming movie and confirmed that production is on track. Filming will probably start in February next year in Hawaii.

Rumors also speculated that the movie's storyline will feature Dr. Henry Wu creating a new breed of dinosaurs. According to reports from Master Herald, the dinosaur park where it all started, Isla Nublar, will never be the same again and probably turn into another "lost and forgotten Jurassic Park." Because of this, the sequel will reportedly get rid of the theme park setting.

Viewers are definitely excited on what the sequel has to offer.

Jurassic Park 2 will hit theaters on June 22, 2018.
