Good news for Underworld fans! It looks like an Underworld movie marathon is in order as the Vampires and Lycans will be back for a new Underworld movie to be released next year.

In case fans forgot already, the "Underworld" series includes five movies, released on a three-year interval starting with the original one entitled "Underworld" in 2003. The first movie was then followed by two sequels, "Underworld: Evolution" and "Underworld: Awakening" released in 2006 and 2012, respectively.

Kate Beckinsale stars as Selene in these three movies, the powerful and beautiful Vampire clad in very tight black leather suits. The actress pretty much personifies these movies.

There was also a prequel released in 2009 entitled "Underworld: Rise of the Lycans", where the history of the origins of the Vampires and Lycans were explained. The movie was narrated by "Underworld" lead actress, Kate Beckinsale.

The Underworld series has always been known for providing and exciting its fans with the long and history-rich action-packed and leather-tight war between the Vampires and the Lycans (werewolves).

And all of these and more are very evident in the new trailer of "Underworld: Blood Wars" released by Sony Pictures Entertainment.

So, why should fans be excited with the new "Underworld: Blood Wars"?

Firstly, if one can remember, the last movie "Underworld: Awakening" was always meant to have a sequel. The movie ended with lots of questions and considering that it has been four years since, answers are pretty much overdue.

Will fans finally see the end of the long war between Vampire and Lycans in the new "Underworld" movie? Can this also mean the end of the movie franchise?

In the official synopsis released, Selene together with her allies David (played by "Divergent" actor, Theo James) and Thomas (played by "Game of Thrones" alumnus, Charles Dance) will do all in their power to finally end the "eternal war" of the two clans. Even if it means the end for Selene.

"Underworld: Blood Wars" release date will be on January 6, 2017. Watch the official trailer below.
