iPhone 7, Apple's phone offering this year, is a highly anticipated, the intense speculation about the device suggests. The launch is more than two months away yet nearly all its features have been leaked by trustworthy sources leaving little for imagination. However, as recent reports suggests, Apple could have a surprise or two up its sleeve that may escape notice until launch.

Recent reports have suggested Apple will drop the 64 GB variant of the device, making choice easy for the customer. Apple users across the globe have been groused for years that the iPhone featured a 16 GB variant as entry device, when this amount of storage is grossly inadequate for present-day use. However, few considered it possible that Apple would do away with 64 GB.

"This move would be widely applauded as Apple has been rightly criticized by many (including myself) for sticking to the 16GB tier for so long on such a premium range. Meanwhile the jump to 128GB retains Apple's love of upsell with the $100 more expensive middle tier long being the sweet spot for most buyers," wrote Forbes' Gordon Kelly.

Two other features, though rumored for inclusion but not high up on the table, is IP68 water resistant-built. A feature that Android phone makers introduced years ago, water-resistance does add value to a device's saleability. Wireless charging, which Apple's rival Samsung introduced wireless charging in 2013. Apple took to it with Apple Watch which is expected to be replicated in the phone.

iPhone 7's camera has been the most talked about feature. Recent leaks confirm the iPhone 7 will have better camera, suggested by the considerable increase in lens bulk seen in leaked images and 3D renders. Many have argued that Apple would make its camera pixels bigger for improved low-light functionality. These leaks also show that antenna bands will be rounded on the top and bottom along contours of the device.

Apple leaks have been far more consistent this year than ever before, which many believe is a ploy to keep expectations high. Initial leaks suggesting the iPhone 7 will resemble iPhone 6/6S was seen as the phone's undoing. Recent leaks have done their job, indicate surveys. One published last week suggests nearly a sixth of iPhone users would upgrade with another third likely to upgrade when the iPhone 7 launches later this year.
