Disney and Lucasfilm have yet to announce an official start date on production for Phil Lord and Chris Miller's 2018 untitled young Han Solo "Star Wars" film, but we do know a bit about the film already. Alden Ehrenreich ("Hail, Caesar!") is set to star, and screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan ("The Empire Strikes Back," "Return of the Jedi," "The Force Awakens") will pen the script.

Recently, Kasdan opened up about the Han Solo project and his involvement in the greater "Star Wars" universe under Disney. Here's what he had to say to the Atlanta Jewish Film Festival about the upcoming offerings from Lucasfilm.

"You know, Chris Miller and Phil Lord are going to direct it," Kasdan said. "They're great, funny and imaginative and we've had a great time together. My son [Jon] and I wrote the script and Chris and Phil are working on it and they're about to move to London to start shooting in January. And it should be fun."

In addition to confirming a January start date for the Han Solo shoot, Kasdan also revealed that he is still somewhat involved with "Episode VIII" and "Episode IX."

"I have a little information," Kasdan said of the direction of the remaining two saga films. "[Star Wars Episode VIII director] Rian [Johnson] is a friend of mine. I'm getting to know Colin Trevorrow, who is going to direct Episode 9, so I feel very involved with it."

The young Han Solo movie will explore how everyone's favorite scruffy looking nerf-herder became the intergalactic scoundrel, thief and smuggler that Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi first meet in "A New Hope." It has been confirmed that Chewbacca will be featured in the film. Outside of that, plot details are few and far between.

The young Han Solo movie will arrive in theaters on May 25, 2018. Meanwhile, the upcoming "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" will be released on Dec. 16, 2016.
