"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" star John Boyega has been chatting with the media recently following his Trophee Chopard win at Cannes, and he's had some interesting things to say. During one recent interview, FN-2187 was asked about his experience making "The Force Awakens" with director J.J. Abrams and now making "Star Wars: Episode VIII" with Rian Johnson.

While his answer doesn't reveal anything major about the "Star Wars" galaxy, it does provide fans with an interesting perspective on how the movies may differ.

"Rian is his own man," Boyega answered when asked about working with Johnson after Abrams. "You can't compare the two. They're of the same ilk, creatively, both talented. But two different guys, man. I really, really dig Rian, to step in like that. I hope we get to work together on something in the future, because he's got a great artistic eye. He's not Hollywood at all. This is a big Hollywood blockbuster film, but you know what I'm saying, with him behind the energy, you don't feel like you're on a Hollywood set. You feel like you're in the midst of friends and people who want to work on something creatively great."

It's always encouraging to hear that a star and his director are getting along. It's even better to hear that star speak of hopefully working with that director again in the future. That's a great endorsement and bodes well for "Episode VIII." The more positive the experience, the better the final product.

But that wasn't all Boyega talked about in this interview. He was also asked about the recent rumor that Academy Award nominee Tom Hardy will cameo as a stormtrooper in "Episode VII," much like Daniel Craig did in "The Force Awakens."

"Wow! Did Tom say that?" Boyega exclaimed. "Okay. Okay. Next time I go on set I'm going to release a [stormtrooper] helmet and see if Tom Hardy's in there!"

Boyega has been trained well by Lucasfilm not to reveal any potential spoilers or specific plot details. That's unfortunate for us, but we can't hold it against him.

"Star Wars: Episode VIII" will arrive in theaters on Dec. 17, 2017.
