Washington, D.C. police are on the lookout for a man who broke into a local restaurant to light up the grill and make himself some food.

The man, who remains unidentified, broke into a Five Guys restaurant on Irving Street NW Friday, March 18. He didn't take any money or particularly valuable items. He simply made some food, took a bottle of water and left.

The incident was captured on camera, which shows the "person of interest" strolling through the closed Five Guys where he treated himself to a fountain beverage before flipping what appears to be hamburger patties and a couple buns on the grill while talking on his phone.

Speaking to the media, police spokesman Sean Hickman noted that police have yet to confirm the nature of the food items that were being prepared by the suspect, saying, "He cooked food. I don't know if he made a hamburger or not."

Hickman revealed the man used a delivery man to pull off his culinary caper. He followed the delivery man into the restaurant and waited until he left.

"A suspect followed a delivery man into the restaurant and waited until the delivery man left," said the police in a news release. "He then rummaged through the establishment, cooked food and stole bottled water before leaving the restaurant."

In the meantime, police have issued an alert about the suspect and have asked the public for help in identifying and capturing him. The incident is being treated as a burglary and the reward for helping catch the suspect is grossly disproportionate to the amount of money "stolen" in the incident.

D.C. Crime Solvers offers a reward of up to $1,000 for a tip that leads to an arrest, while a Little Cheeseburger with unlimited condiments sells for $5.69.

In another food-related crime, earlier this month, a Connecticut couple was arrested at a local buffet after getting into a fight with another customer. The incident started off as a simple argument over some crab legs, but soon escalated into a physical altercation, resulting in the victim getting punched in the face and losing a tooth.
