Say what they will, the San Francisco 49ers are not going to let the Cleveland Browns take Jared Goff, it is just not happening. The Browns are around 60 percent certain they will take Carson Wentz instead, but the 49ers do not want to take any chances as they look for a franchise quarterback. That's a key word, franchise, meaning better than all other options at the position on your roster.

This is not what Colin Kaepernick is. When Kaepernick led this team to the playoffs the 49ers were a defensive powerhouse who were feared by most of their division opponents. Now division rivals laugh at the idea of a competitive 49ers team. Goff could potentially turn all of this around as he would be a strong option for their first round pick. The 49ers are currently picking seventh overall, but they would like to get closer to the first overall pick so they have a better chance at selecting the pride of SoCal.

The 49ers will need to get ahead of the Baltimore Ravens at six, the Jacksonville Jaguars at 5, the Dallas Cowboys at four and the San Diego Chargers at three. They could potentially attempt to jump all the way to the first spot which would not be surprising considering the Titans have already expressed a desire to trade their first overall pick for the right price. The 49ers really are in full-on rebuilding mode at this point and are just not able to admit it yet.

When you look at the roster, the main star defender is NaVorro Bowman, and he may only be 27, but his injury history makes him look a lot older on the fields. The 49ers could trade Bowman and Kaepernick for enough ammo to move up in the draft. They could also try to put together a deal with the Titans for Bowman, however it may be tough considering they are solid at inside linebacker.

For the Titans, moving back to seven might be beneficial as they would collect a few more picks, a solid player, and have a chance at a top 10 prospect. Another team who could be interested are the Dallas Cowboys who have repeatedly stated that trading back is an option and at four they could potentially grab Goff. The 49ers may need to give away a couple of early picks, but it may be worth it if they land their franchise quarterback.
