It's not often that the reigning Super Bowl champions enter the offseason with potentially debilitating quarterback questions, but that is where the Denver Broncos find themselves. Peyton Manning is retiring, Brock Osweiler skipped town for Houston, Ryan Fitzpatrick isn't coming, and no progress has been made on a Colin Kaepernick trade. What are head coach Gary Kubiak and general manager John Elway to do?

Despite the free agent losses, Denver still has a playoff-caliber roster. It just don't have anyone to lead it at the moment. That's why the team is apparently finally coming around to the idea of free agent QB Robert Griffin III. Kubiak said that the Broncos have looked at the former Washington Redskins star and are weighing all their options at the moment.

"[Griffin] is one of the free guys out there," Kubiak said. "...He's obviously been part of the conversation. We'll see what happens; he's a talented young man."

Kubiak would not talk about the possibility of Denver hosting Griffin on a visit, but he did stress that the team would be "patient" when it came to the quarterback position. The Cleveland Browns and New Yorks Jets have also been rumored to be interested in Griffin this offseason, so it's unknown how long the Broncos can afford to be patient if they get serious about landing Griffin.

For now, Kubiak is talking up newly acquired passer Mark Sanchez and what he can do in Denver.

"One of the things we feel really good about is we feel good about getting Mark," Kubiak said. "Mark's got 60 starts in this league - he's started two AFC Championship (Games) ... we feel really good about him, how he fits, he's got some background in what we do."

The Broncos also have 2015 seventh-rounder Trevor Siemian at the position.

Despite a poor three seasons following his breakout rookie year, Griffin is still just 26 years old. He did not attempt a single pass for Washington during the 2015 season and has not started a game since 2014. Still, he's a low-risk, high-reward type of free agent.

Kubiak was asked what Griffin would do as a possible player in Denver's offense.

"He's very athletic, moves around...another player who's played in some big games," he said. "Obviously he hasn't played much in the last year and a half...but he's still young, very young kid, all those things he's got working for him.

"I'm sure he's looking at the best possible opportunity for himself. Guys like that bounce back, they've done good things before, and they expect to do good things again."
