After months of waiting, Naughty Dog has finally brought "Uncharted" fans some good news: the long awaited title "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" has gone gold. This means that development on the base game has been completed and players should not see anymore release date delays.

"We are very happy to say that 'Uncharted 4: A Thief's End' has gone gold today!" Naughty Dog announced in a Facebook Post. "Congrats to everyone who worked on the game!!! Now the wait to put it in your hands begins..."

This is great news for fans who have been waiting months for the last "Uncharted" game that Naughty Dog plans to develop and the last one that features series protagonist Nathan Drake in the proverbial driver's seat. Now with the game going gold and copies of the discs headed to manufacturers for mass-production ahead of the game's May 10 release date, fans can look forward to the title's release instead of further delays.

The path to reach this point has been a long one for everyone involved ever since the game's official reveal at E3 2014. Slated for a Christmas 2015 release, fans only had to wait a little over a year before they could see Naughty Dog's "Uncharted" story reach its conclusion. However this didn't come to pass, as the game was pushed back to March 18, 2016 due to development issues. Soon after, however, Naughty Dog delayed the release once more due to similar development issues, pushing it back to April 26.

Fans thought that the delay hell was finally over earlier in March when Naughty Dog announced a multiplayer stress test for March 4-6, but expectations were betrayed once again when the developer revealed that the game was delayed once again, this time to May 10 due to the need to print more copies of the game to meet consumer demand. Now, it looks like this May 10, 2016 release date is permanent.

To illustrate just how serious Naughty Dog is about this release date, "Uncharted 4" director Neil Druckmann tweeted a photo of what appears to be one of the first discs printed on it.

So what can fans expect once "Uncharted 4" finally arrives? In seperate tweets, Bruce Straley, the game's other director, said "Uncharted" is possibly the "most visually stunning game ever created" and "the best Uncharted ever."

If those claims are true, then May 10 can't come soon enough.
