The Indian Women team is looking to maintain its brilliant form in shortest format of cricket. The Mithali Raji-led squad, which recently won two series, is considered a strong contender for ICC WT20 2016. India first clinched a historic 2-1 win over Australia in January and then won a three match series against Sri Lanka in February.

"With the kind of momentum we have, we should, at least, qualify for the semi-finals. From there, it's anyone's game," skipper Mithali Raj said. "Earlier, it used to feel like those two teams were way ahead of the rest, but now the gap is closing. After our last two series wins, we too are strong contenders for the ICC World Twenty20."

Bangladesh Women's team registered an eight wicket win over Ireland Women in their second WT20 warm-up game after losing the first warm-up game against Sri Lanka. "Hopefully, we will start the tournament with a win. Our strength is good preparation and unity. Only preparation is not good enough but we will try our best," skipper Jahanara Alam said on the eve of WT20 opener.
