UFC and Mixed Martial Arts fighter Shane del Rosario has died following a heart attack on Tuesday that left him on life support. The 30-year-old fighter showed no brain activity after going to Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian in Newport Beach Calif. and undergoing a procedure on Wednesday.

He was found unconscious by his roommate, and fellow UFC fighter, Ian McCall who immediately called 911. Del Rosario spend the next two days in the hospital on life support.

"The Del Rosario family and I, and all of our family, teammates and friends, thank everyone for their prayers and support. God has a different path for Shane to take and instead has chosen to take him away from us to be with his forefathers in heaven," a post written on Facebook by Del Rosario's longtime trainer Colin Oyama said.

According to ESPN.com, doctors were to make the final decision on Friday as to whether or not he should stay on life support. In a phone interview Oyama told reporters that there was no brain activity left and that "the family has chosen for him to go in a dignified fashion and not on a machine."

Later the trainer posted a status on his Facebook page announcing that Del Rosario had passed away.

The fighter was born and raised in Orange County Calif. where he graduated from the University of Califorina-Irvine. He chose to go into fighting rather than pursue an advanced degree. He went on to stop the first 11 challengers he faced. He joined the UFC from Strikeforce but lost his first two UFC matches. He was scheduled for a Dec. 28 bout but had to back out of the fight due to a rib injury. His record stands at 11-2 with the only two losses in his career being in the UFC.
