Marvel has been hitting homeruns with their Netflix properties "Daredevil" and "Jessica Jones" and have high hopes for the upcoming "Luke Cage" series. But although a fourth superhero standalone series, "Iron Fist," has been in development for more than a year, the studio has yet to cast an actor in the lead role. Aside from Scott Buck being named showrunner, details about "Iron Fist" have been few and far between. However, a new rumor today hints that a certain "Game of Thrones" star may have landed the coveted lead role.

According to The Hashtag Show, Finn Jones, who plays Loras Tyrell on the hit HBO series, has been cast as Marvel's Iron Fist. To be clear, this is not an official report. This is an unconfirmed rumor right now, but The Hashtag Show has built up a decent track record of Marvel accuracy.

UPDATE: Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Finn Jones has officially been cast in "Iron Fist."

Heroic Hollywood claims that "Iron Fist" is scheduled to start production in April, so any official casting news would have to be announced soon. That means we should be finding out whether or not Jones really landed the role in the very near future.

Danny Rand, a.k.a. Iron Fist, is a popular character among comic book readers and an integral part of The Defenders, a street level Avengers styled squad that fights crime in New York City. Marvel and Netflix have long planned a "Defenders" miniseries as the eventual culmination of their four individual standalone superhero shows. This highly anticipated crossover event would feature Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist.

We'll keep you posted as more details about "Iron Fist" and potential casting news emerge.
