The most well-known trope of the superhero genre is the secret identity. For the most part, all superheroes wear a mask to protect the ones they love and allow themselves some semblance of normalcy when they're not fighting bad guys. Netflix's "Daredevil" emphasized this aspect of superhero lore as Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock attempted to protect those he cared about while simultaneously hurting those closest to him.

Will season two similarly highlight the notion of a secret identity? Marvel released a new teaser for "Daredevil's" second season, and it suggests that Jon Bernthal's Frank Castle/Punisher discovers the truth about the man behind the mask. Check out the image below.

I'm no expert, but it can't be good when your nemesis is palming your mask. Did he discover the identity of Daredevil? If so, why would Marvel spoil such a huge reveal before the season?

It makes sense that Punisher would eventually find out that Matt Murdock is the Man Without Fear. Season two seems to center on their conflicting ideologies and approaches to justice. Daredevil brings criminals to jail while Punisher puts them in the ground. It's likely that season two will involve Daredevil trying to track down this new vigilante in Hell's Kitchen before the body count rises again. Given how many people already know about Matt's extracurricular activities, we wouldn't be shocked if Castle is added to that list. However, the means by which he discovers this information will be important. Will it be by force or by a newly formed alliance? Did Punisher remove Daredevil's mask during a fight, or did Matt willingly take it off? So many questions, so few answers.

Season two of "Daredevil" will premiere on Netflix on Friday, March 18.
