The first look of Akshay Kumar's "Rustom" is out and the "Airlift" actor is looking incredibly handsome in his role as a navy officer. The 48-year-old star took to Twitter on Thursday to share the upcoming film's first look with his 11.6 million followers.

"Decorated officer. Devoted family man. Defending his honour. His name RUSTOM. Know his story on 12 Aug #RustomFirstLook," Kumar captioned a photo of himself sporting a moustache and looking dapper in the uniform of a navy officer.

Written by Neeraj Pandey and Vipul Rawal, the film will be Tinu Suresh Desai's first directorial venture and will feature Khiladi Kumar alongside Illeana D'Cruz and Esha Gupta, according to the Times of India.

"The film is set in the late 1950s and is a pure work of fiction. Rustom is inspired from certain real life incidents that happened in the past and will be shot in India as well as in Britain," said Shital Bhatia of production company Friday Filmworks, according to NDTV.

"Rustom" is slated to hit theaters on Aug. 12.
