Google Chromecast owners are in for a treat with the inclusion of HBO Go support on both iOS and Android smartphone apps.

Good things come to those who wait, and it holds so true for all the Chromecast owners who bought the $35 Google dongle with hopes of getting support from major content providers, eventually. HBO Go app has been updated with Chromecast streaming support on Android and iOS platforms, according to a company statement.

"Grab your favorite snack and get cozy on your Iron Throne, because HBO GO has added Chromecast support to their Android, iOS and web app," Shanna Prevé, Head of Content Partnerships for Chromecast and Mother of Dragons in Training, wrote in a company's blog post Thursday. "Now you can easily enjoy "Game of Thrones," "Boardwalk Empire," "Girls" and your favorite movies on your TV by casting from the HBO GO app or website."

Google launched the small $35 HDMI Chromecast dongle alongside the Nexus 7 tablet at an event in San Francisco, back in July. The tiny dongle plugs into a TV or a larger screen for media streaming. Google included leading services like Pandora, Hulu Plus, Netflix, and YouTube for its Chromecast and revealed plans of adding support from third-party developers in the future. The cost-effective dongle is controlled via Android, iOS and web applications.

With HBO Go app supporting Chromecast streaming, users can enjoy their favorite shows and movies on the big screen.

The HBO Go app with Chromecast support works just like the other apps. The selection button on the interface allows users to choose a video, which will be loaded by the Chromecast and not the smartphone. Users still have playback controls, notification and lock screen support with the upgraded app.

Users can download the app for iOS and Android for free. But HBO Go is still bundled with your cable subscription only.
