Warning: The following contains possible spoilers for USA Network's "Mr. Robot."

USA Network's "Mr. Robot" cemented a fantastic first season run by nabbing a Golden Globe Award for and the Sixth Critics Choice Television Award for Best Drama. Not a bad way to head into season two. But despite all of the positive buzz around the show, the follow up effort is going to get even darker while answering several lingering questions fans have.

Main character Elliot Anderson (Rami Malek) will learn more about his mysterious Mr. Robot (Christian Slater) persona after discovering that the character is actually a figment of his imagination. Creator and showrunner Sam Esmail told Entertainment Weekly that season two will have a considerable amount of backstory and clearer timelines than the first season.

"The series is filling in the blanks of the past and the present of this character...It's about a guy who becomes aware of this delusion he's been having," Esmail revealed.

And what would "Mr. Robot" be without some mind-bending twists? Esmail is directing all 10 episodes this upcoming season and is doing thorough research on the real-world consequences of a hacker infiltrating one of the world's largest companies, as we saw in the season one finale. Expect some crazy plot arcs to develop as a result.

In addition, season two will delve into darker themes as Elliot squares off against even more sinister threats. As we saw in the post-credits scene of the season one finale, Whiterose (BD Wong), the leader of the Dark Army, was chatting with Evil Corps CEO Philip Price (Michale Cristofer), suggesting a very dangerous pairing.

The character of Whiterose is expected to have more screen time in season two. Wong said that this could lead to more understanding of sense of self and identity, given Whiterose's dual gender personas and Elliot's current mental state.

"Mr. Robot" is expected to return to USA Network sometime this summer.
