Warning: the following contains spoilers for USA Network's "Mr. Robot."

When the first season of USA Network's hit new series "Mr. Robot" came to a close, fans were left with a few dangling plot threads that they desperately wanted solved. Alas, no such luck exists when it comes to the twisty story of "Mr. Robot," so we've been left to theorize and speculate on our own as the show gears up for a second season. Fortunately, season two will take pity on us uninformed viewers and answer one of the bigger questions out there: what happened to Tyrell Wellick (Martin Wallstrom)?

If you'll remember, Elliot Anderson (Rami Malek) awoke in the car of the ex-Evil Corp. executive completely alone with no memory of the past few days to start off the season finale. As he quickly discovered, he and Tyrell had successfully pulled off Fsociety's planned hack to erase major debt. However, Tyrell was nowhere to be found once Elliot returned to his primary persona.

Some fans have postulated that Tyrell was actually the masked man in Fsociety's video following the hack. If so, he figures to play a central role in season two. Unfortunately, his violent tendencies and deteriorating psyche will make it difficult for him to become Elliot's full-time ally.

Series creator and showrunner Sam Esmail promised answers in season two, a season he likened to Rome burning in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. Yes, season two will somehow be even darker than season one. smail went on to say that there will be no time jump and the storyline will pick up right where it left off when the series does return.

He also spoke of season one being the "canvas" that set up future storylines and that it was just the "first act" when it comes to Elliot's journey. Season two will explore Elliot's impact on the world.

"What would happen to society...if the consumer-debt industry were to be erased?" Esmail mused. "To me, that canvas was something I was interested in exploring, so, for me, that's what that last scene sets up. We're about to watch Rome burn. That's the world Elliot's going to enter next season."

"Mr. Robot" will return to USA in spring or summer.
