Ellie Goulding detailed a harrowing near-death experience with a friend during a visit in Norway when the vehicle they were in crashed through the top part of an ice-covered lake.

The British singer-songwriter posted a snap of the half portion of car they were driving, a BV206, slowly submerging underneath the cold and dark waters in the middle of the lake.

"Throwback to a few weeks ago when myself and @conormcdphoto nearly ended up in a lake in -30... Note to self don't drive a BV206 over a frozen lake," she wrote.

Goulding's friend, photographer Conor McDowell, narrated the tale of how they had to escape the car through the roof in order to survive.

"'Oh s--t we're in' was my first thought. Second was to take photos. We were in the front cabin. That is pretty much under water in this photo. A few minutes later it was all completely gone under the water and ice for good," McDonnell wrote.

McDonnell admitted that he and Goulding had agreed not to post anything about the incident but the two eventually realized that "it's too mad of a story not to tell," and decided to share it.

Goulding is currently on tour in support of her new album "Delirium," which consists of songs such as "On My Mind," "Something in the Way You Move," and "Lost and Found," Entertainment Weekly reported.
