It looks as if "Spider-Man" will be swinging into theaters slightly earlier than we thought.

The Wrap is reporting that Marvel and Sony's rebooted "Spider-Man" solo film will arrive on July 7, 2017, rather than its original release date of July 28, 2017. British actor Tom Holland stars as the titular Spider-Man/Peter Parker. The cast also includes Marisa Tomei as Aunt May. Jon Watts ("Cop Car") will direct.

Sony's "Jumanji" reboot has now been moved back from its original Dec. 25, 2016 date to assume "Spider-Man's" slot, giving Sony Pictures two big blockbusters in crucial summer 2017 weekends. Holland will make his Marvel Cinematic Debut as the iconic wall-crawler in May's "Captain America: Civil War."

No reason has been given for the schedule shakeup, and it is unknown if they have anything to do with Disney's (which owns Marvel and Lucasfilm) decision to push back the follow up to "Star Wars: The Force Awakens." Rian Johnson's "Star Wars: Episode VIII" was delayed from May 2017 to December.

We'll keep you posted as more details begin to emerge.
