Jon Bernthal ("The Walking Dead") will make his MCU debut as Frank Castle/Punisher in the upcoming season of Netflix's "Daredevil." Marvel execs have been heaping effusive praise on Bernthal's performance for some time now, but now it seems as if he's so good that he might get his own spinoff series, TVLine reports.

"Daredevil" will debut its second season on Friday, March 18. Yet it is Punisher, not Matt Murdock, who will be stealing scenes.

"Viewers watching the show will be rooting for this guy with a gun but we're also going to force people to second-guess themselves," executive producer Doug Petrie told Entertainment Weekly. "Taking lethal justice into your own hands in America in 2015 is tricky s--t."

Should a Punisher series get the green light, it would become Marvel's sixth small-screen Netflix endeavor following "Daredevil," "Jessica Jones," the upcoming "Luke Cage" and the currently in-development "Iron First" and "The Defenders" series. Marvel seems intent on establishing an "Avengers"-like crossover universe on the streaming platform, and we can't blame it. Reviews for both "Daredevil" and "Jessica Jones" have been overwhelmingly positive thus far.

We'll keep you posted as more details regarding a potential "Punisher" standalone show emerge.
