If I've said it once, I've said it a million times: USA's "Mr. Robot" was the best show of this past summer. Not only did it successfully borrow the best elements from "Fight Club," "WarGames" and "Swordfish," but it also established USA Network as a viable destination for prestige drama. Gone are the days when the channel solely produced popcorn procedurals; now, there's a new serialized bad boy on the block.

One of the more traditional yet still interesting plot points from the first season was the subtle yet present feelings between star Rami Malek's Elliot and Portia Doubleday's Angela. Although "Mr. Robot" does not dabble in the oft-used "Will They/Won't They?" trope, it's clear that there's something a bit more than just friendship going on between these two.

So, will they get together in season two?

"I don't know," Doubleday told HNGN at The Paley Center red carpet in New York City. "[Showrunner Sam Esmail] won't tell me. You should ask him! All I know is that I think there is a white knight aspect to Angela. I just don't know how corrupted she's going to become working for Evil Corp. I think that both characters really love and care about each other and have a special connection that keeps them innocent because of their childhood. They both want to change society and they both go about it in completely different ways. I definitely anticipate a problem with Angela working at E Corp."

It's normal for a showrunner to shroud some plot points in mystery, especially on a twist-heavy series like "Mr. Robot." Though Esmail has been incredibly forthcoming with his actors about the show's story, he has yet to definitively tell them whether or not Elliot and Angela will get together.

However, during the event's panel discussion, Esmail did admit that he would be "a fool for not exploring that eventually." While that doesn't confirm anything, it does hint that a romance between the two characters is possible.

Season two of "Mr. Robot" is expected to begin airing in June of 2016.
