The Golden Globes were attended by the who's who of Hollywood at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles on Sunday, but there was one celebrity who was ordered to miss the event in spite of two nominations - Idris Elba, according to Entertainment Tonight.

The British actor had to pull out of the awards ceremony due to an injury. Elba's doctor told the 43-year-old that he was not fit to travel and could not attend Sunday night's festivities after suffering a back injury. "On doctor's orders [he] can not get on a plane to attend the Golden Globes," said the actor's agent.

The "Pacific Rim" actor was nominated in two categories: Best Actor in a TV movie or limited series for his performance in "Luther" and Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture for war drama "Beasts of No Nation," as HNGN previously reported. However, he did not emerge victorious in any of the categories.

Elba has previously received five Golden Globe nominations in the Best Actor in a Miniseries of TV Film category for his portrayal of John Luther in "Luther" and has even won once for the crime drama series in 2011, according to The Examiner.
