San Diego Chargers general manager Tom Telesco has announced that head coach Mike McCoy has signed a one-year extension through the 2017 season, according to Chargers reporter Michael Gehlken. The Chargers have already made a ton of offseason moves since the regular season ended this past Sunday, including firing offensive coordinator Frank Reich and five other assistant coaches.

The Chargers have already applied for relocation to Los Angeles this past Monday, and a meeting regarding the Chargers, St. Louis Rams, and Oakland Raiders applications for relocation will be held in Houston next week. "I think everyone's hope is we will have a vote in Houston next week and end this thing," said New York Giants co-owner John Mara, via the San Diego Tribune. All three teams applying for relocation are expected to keep their head coaches, as it seems that the three NFL owners are concerned with keeping some unity in their respective franchises.

The Chargers have been trending downward the past couple seasons, and many did not expect a last place finish in the AFC West with a 4-12 record. McCoy has a record of 22-26 in since arriving in San Diego three seasons ago, but this year was the first season he had posted a losing season. It's worth noting that the Chargers only gave McCoy a one-year extension, as the front office is likely not sold on him as the long-term solution.

The Chargers have plenty of issues to resolve this offseason, as star safety Eric Weddle looks to be heading out the door as an unrestricted free agent, and their franchise quarterback Philip Rivers has just turned 34 years old. The Chargers may be moving to Los Angeles in the near future, but it will likely take some time before this franchise returns to greatness.
