The San Francisco 49ers have interviewed former Eagles head coach Chip Kelly for their head coach position, according to Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area. The 49ers also reportedly met with Buffalo Bills assistant head coach/ running backs coach Anthony Lynn on Thursday.

San Francisco's front office is looking for a head coaching candidate that can turn its franchise around quickly after firing head coach Jim Tomsula. The 49ers have been trending in the wrong the direction, and some think a hire like Kelly could spark the 49ers' play.

Questions will likely remain about Kelly and his relationship with players following all the comments that have come out of Philadelphia or from former Eagles players in the past couple seasons, but the 49ers could clearly use his help on the offensive side of the ball. The 49ers finished ranked second to last in the NFL in yards per game, and Kelly has proven that his offensive system can score points and move the ball down the field.

Reports surfaced prior to the interview that Kelly had interest in the 49ers head coaching position, and after being fired with a 26-21 record in the three seasons in Philadelphia, many felt he would get another opportunity. There have been no updates on how the 49ers felt about Kelly as their head coach, but the organization is clearly not done searching for its next head coach.

The 49ers are scheduled to meet with Cleveland Browns offensive coordinator John DeFilippo on Friday, according to Maiocco. San Francisco has plenty of issues to solve this offseason, and finding its next head coach is just the first priority it needs to take care of.
