Quentin Tarantino's latest film "The Hateful Eight" will hit theaters on Christmas Day, and while the movie already has a stellar cast including Samuel L. Jackson, Bruce Dern and Kurt Russell, Tarantino recently revealed that he wanted Jennifer Lawrence to be a part of the movie as well. The writer/director cast Jennifer Jason Leigh in the role of Daisy, but Tarantino said he was originally tempted to cast Lawrence instead of the 53-year-old actress.

"I'm a huge Jennifer Lawrence fan," Taratino told Entertainment Weekly. "I can see her doing a good job with this role, so we went to talk about it and everything. She was just doing me a courtesy to see me, I think. She was doing 'Joy.' She had to all this publicity on the 'Hunger Games' movies. There was just no f-ing way in the world that she was available. Having said that, I'm glad I didn't cast somebody that young. I think I absolutely positively made the right choice."

The character of Daisy was one of two characters that were not specifically written for a particular actor, the "Django Unchained" director revealed. While Tarantino said that he would have loved the opportunity to work with Lawrence, he was happy he cast Leigh in the end.

"I was like, the actress should be from that same boat as the [other] actors, and there were about three actresses from that period that really kind of made an indelible mark on me," Tarantino continued. "I started going on little film festivals of the three, and frankly, it was the Jennifer Jason Leigh film festival that I enjoyed the most."

While Lawrence works with different directors for her different films, the Academy Award-winner continues to go back to David O. Russell, who she previously worked on "Silver Linings Playbook" and "American Hustle" with, as HNGN previously reported. Lawrence and Russell teamed up for the third time for the upcoming film "Joy," which is set to open up against "The Hateful Eight."

Both "Joy" and "The Hateful Eight" will open on Christmas Day.
