In Bristol, U.K., there is a pub called Bag of Nails where 15 cats come and go as they please, hanging out with customers and enjoying the relaxed atmosphere. In 2011, Luke Daniels, 44, took over the then-vacant pub and decided to make it his own. "So many pubs are sterile and boring and look the same. I thought, I want my pub to be different. So I filled it with toys, I filled it with music, I filled it with people and I filled it with cats," said Daniels, the pub's very cat-friendly owner, according to the BBC.

Daniels differentiates his business from the many Cat Cafes that are sweeping the globe. "I know the media has portrayed us as a 'cat pub,' but we just happen to have a lot of cats living upstairs that like to come down into the bar from time to time. There's a big difference," said Daniels, noted the BBC. At his pub, he explains, cats are not a commodity. They are fellow pubgoers.

Though the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) is apparently not thrilled with so many cats living in one space, and in the presence of alcohol, Daniels said the RSPCA has never been to the place and, if they'd visit, they would realize that these are happy, healthy cats.

"As for alcohol being a poison, they might sniff it, but there's no way cats are going to drink booze. It's ludicrous. Also, we don't have drunk people staggering around in here — it's not that kind of pub. The cats are healthy and they are not stressed," said Daniels, according to the BBC.

One of the cats decides on the winner of weekly trivia contests in the event of a tie, according to the pub's hilarious Facebook page. "As usual George shall be adjudicating in the case of a tie or if any disputes should arise. Quizmaster shall be Bruce, or possibly Andy. I have no idea frankly, I just hope that one of them turns up at least," said a post from Nov. 24.

The pub has 35 types of beer from around the world, and is widely loved for its relaxed, fun atmosphere, reported the bar's blog, Saga of Nails.
