A man who was arrested for attacking his wife is also under investigation for beating his son to death and then feeding him to pigs. Michael Jones, 44, is being held for the assault of his wife and firing a gun at her, according to the New York Daily News

While police were investigating the assault, a tip suggested that they search the family's back yard for Jones' missing 7-year-old son. Police found the human remains at a barn on the Wyandotte County property. Locals who knew the family said that there were eight children, but the 7-year-old has been missing since earlier this year. Livestock was added to the barn in September.

"Their house was just filthy. The kids lived in filth. Trash everywhere. Dried food all over the house, said one woman. "The house was horrible."

"There are bullet holes in the walls of that house. So I'm sure you can understand what terror may have been going through that household daily," said Jones' brother-in-law Michael Williams, according to the Inquisitr. "She's horrified, still terrified of losing her children. She's still in fear for her own life and the lives of her kids."

Former babysitters for the Jones family said that several people had contacted the Kansas Department for Children and Families, concerned for the children.

Jones is being held on $10 million bond with charges of aggravated assault with a firearm, aggravated battery and child abuse, according to News One. Wyandotte County District Attorney Jerome A. Gorman said that it is the highest bond a judge has set in over 30 years.

The remaining seven children have been taken into protective custody.
