We knew that Janina Gavankar was heading to “The Vampire Diaries” to play a girl named Tessa. So imagine viewers surprise when Tessa was revealed to be Qetsiyah, the witch that put Silas (Paul Wesley) in his previous extended sleeping predicament.

Now that fans know a lot of the backstory between her character and Silas, the information she recently provided to TVGuide.com may not be as much of a surprise. However it may be good news for some shippers—Tessa may fall for his doppelganger Stefan (also played by Wesley).

“Absolutely, that's inevitable,” Gavankar said of the possibility her character begins to feel something for Stefan. “But he's not the first [dopperlganger] she's watched, so she has a lot of restraint. But it is hard. You'll see moments of her staring at him and trying not to fall in love.”

However, Gavankar adds that her character could sooner “kill” Stefan than let him become a distraction.

In last night’s episode, Tessa made some comments that may discourage “Delena” fans. She pretty much said that no matter what Damon (Ian Somerhalder) does, Stefan and Elena (Nina Dobrev) are destined to be together. However, there are a couple things that hint “Delena” will stay together for a little longer.

The first comes courtesy of TVLine.com, which displayed photos of Damon and Elena dancing together at a ball during the Oct. 31 episode.

The second is Stefan’s current state—he doesn’t remember anyone.

Will Elena and Damon be able to make it as a couple? Or is Tessa/Qetsiyah right? Are you anxious for a Stessa relationship? (Comment Below.)

“The Vampire Diaires” airs Thursday at 8/7c on The CW.
