Nebula, the bionic daughter of Thanos, wasn't the central foe in the first "Guardians of the Galaxy," but she was a pretty badass foil for Zoe Saldana's Gamora. Since Nebula escaped with her life during the climactic battle (she chose to lose a hand rather than make up with her sister), most Marvel fans thought they would eventually see her again. They were right.

Actress Karen Gillan will return as Nebula in "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" but how will she fit into the story? After betraying Thanos, it's not as if she can just go home to Daddy. Luckily, Gillan gave fans a few interesting bits of inside information.

"I think what I'm really excited about is delving into the sisterly relationship between Gamora and Nebula," Gillan told Comic Book Resources. "I think that we're going to see a little bit more of that, and it's going to be a bit more fleshed out."

In the first film, Gamora and Nebula were clear enemies though Gamora did attempt to reconcile with her sister. Saldana's character understands that both her and Nebula were tortured and manipulated by Thanos and that they can free themselves of his influence if they so choose. While Nebula did offer to help Ronan if he promised to kill Thanos with the Power Stone, she remained jealous and hateful of Gamora for being Thanos' favorite daughter. This is a dysfunctional family to say the least.

Nebula, in addition to the Guardians, Yondu and his right-hand man Kraglin, will all be returning for "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2." We don't know how exactly Nebula will play into the film's storyline, but it sounds as if she will be sharing some screen time with Gamora as they hash out all of their issues.

"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" will hit theaters on May 5, 2017.
