Justin Bieber paid tribute to his friend Thomas Ayad, the Universal Music Group (UMG) executive who was one of the 89 people killed at the shooting of the Bataclan Theater during the Paris Attacks on Nov. 14, People reported. Ayad worked on the pop star's team as the international product manager at Mercury Records, and Bieber honored his memory in a touching statement posted on social media.

"Still thinking about Paris and my friend Thomas that we lost in the tragedy," Bieber wrote in a statement posted to Twitter. "He was a part of the team for years and I wish I would've had more time to thank him. Make sure to appreciate people while you have them. Thanks Thomas for everything you did for me. You are appreciated and missed. Thoughts and prayers are with your family & friends #PrayForParis"

Bieber also paid tribute to Paris during the Nov. 14 taping of the 2015 Nickelodeon Halo Awards, where he was honored with the first-ever Halo Hall of Fame Award for his work with the Make-A-Wish Foundation and Pencils for Promise organization, Yahoo! Music reported. Before his performance, Bieber asked fans at New York City's Pier 36 event space for a moment of silence for those who lost their lives during the terrorist attacks in Paris.

"Let's make this world a little bit better," Bieber told the crowd.
