Whereas the villainous Ultron in "Avengers: Age of Ultron" sought to destroy mankind in order to save us from ourselves, the android Vision wants to learn more about humanity. Similar to Data from "Star Trek: The Next Generation," Vision finds human beings to be interesting creatures who possess emotions he longs to feel. So although he will be present in "Captain America: Civil War" as a crime-fighting superhero, his character won't only be directly linked to the story's central conflict.

Paul Bettany, who has voiced Tony Stark's artificial intelligence butler J.A.R.V.I.S. since 2008's "Iron Man" and made his debut as vision in "Age of Ultron," is out promoting his latest directorial effort "Shelter" at the moment. During the media rounds he sat down with Collider and opened up about Vision in "Civil War."

"I think he's very interested in what I means to be human and what love is," Bettany said. "The only way one can guarantee one's loyalty is love. Loyalty is beyond logic, really. Logic doesn't really provide for loyalty. If your logic changes suddenly and things [don't] make sense, you can alter your allegiance, but love stops you from being able to do that."

As of now, we don't know exactly how Vision will delve into this philosophical and emotional debate during "Civil War," which will see Stark and Steve Rodgers go toe-to-toe over an ideological difference. However, we do know which side he will be on. Vision will stand with his surrogate father-figure Stark and fight for Team Iron Man. His teammates will include War Machine, Black Widow and Chadwick Boseman's Black Panther who will be making his MCU debut. Captain America's team will include Falcon, Ant-Man and the Winter Soldier. Though Tom Holland will also be making his MCU debut as Spider-Man, it's unknown which side, if any, the wall-crawler will join (though there are rumors...).

"Captain America: Civil War" will be directed by the "Winter Soldier" brain trust of Joe and Anthony Russo. It is rumored that the first trailers will be attached to fellow Disney blockbuster "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."

"Civil War" is due out on May 6, 2016.
