Celebrity chef Cat Cora has announced her divorce from wife Jennifer after 17 years together, according to People. They married in 2013 following the overturn of California's Proposition 8 appeal.

"It is with great sadness, that after 17 years, a tremendous amount work, careful consideration and heavy hearts, my wife and I have mutually decided to no longer remain married," Cat told People. "In love, there is a season, a reason and a lifetime."

The 48-year-old Cat and her wife have four sons together, all conceived via in vitro fertilization. The 44-year-old Jennifer carried the first three - Zoran, 11, Caje, 8, and Nash, 6 - and Cat carried the fourth, six-year-old Thatcher, who was born three months after Nash.

"Although this is not what we ever imagined, we will always have four incredible reasons to celebrate our years together: our sons," Cat said. "We are forever parents to our boys and are jointly committed to raising them in a peaceful, nurturing and healthy environment."

Court documents obtained by TMZ show Jennifer may not be as "jointly committed" to raising their sons with Cat as the "Iron Chef" says. The women both filed for divorce on the same day, but Jennifer asked for full physical custody while Cat asked for joint physical custody.

Although Jennifer gave birth to Caje, he is Cat's biological child and Nash is Jennifer's biological child, despite Cat carrying him.

"As a same-sex couple, we had to go back and legally adopt them," Cat told People in 2010. "Even though Nash was her biological son, Jennifer had to adopt him. Same with me and Caje."
