Billy Bob Thornton escaped serious injuries after being involved in a car accident on Friday in West Hollywood, Calif.  The 60-year-old "Our Brand is Crisis" actor was riding in the passenger seat of a car when it collided with another vehicle around 6:45 a.m, according to TMZ

He was later taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center after complaining of A head injury. TMZ reported that his injuries were "nothing serious" and he got checked out just as a precaution. He returned to filming his latest project the same day.

News about his accident comes a few days after The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that Thornton has agreed to reprise his role as the mall Santa/conman Willie Soke in "Bad Santa 2," a sequel to the original 2003 comedy

"Bad Santa has been a part of our family holiday tradition ever since we all saw it together at our neighborhood theater," Broad Green Pictures CEO Gabriel Hammond and CCO Daniel Hammond said in a statement. "We are excited to bring this memorable character and new chapter back to the big screen."

"Bad Santa" grossed $60 million domestically on a budget of $23 million.
