Halloween came to the White House Friday afternoon when the south lawn of one of the most iconic residences of the world became a Halloween Carnival.

President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama welcomed hundreds of guests, handing out White House Hershey Kisses, White House Halloween cookies, White House M&Ms, fruit bars, kettle corn and Bo and Sunny baseball cards, reported People.

Pumpkins in an array of colors, black twine spider webs and a huge toy spider on the side of the building reflected the festive spirit while a trapeze, jugglers and stilt-walkers and ghost performers enthralled the guests. Soundtracks like "Thriller" and "Werewolves Of London," as well as the theme songs for "Ghostbusters" and "The Exorcist," ushered in Halloween musically, according to the Daily Mail.

The President and First Lady were not in costume, in a departure from previous years, when the First lady had worn leopard-print clothes and cat ears. But that did not stop the couple from appreciating the children in their costumes.

A young boy dressed up as the Pope impressed Obama so much that he called out "top prize" as the toddler was pushed towards him in a Popemobile, reported Business Standard.

Hundreds of local schoolchildren and children from military families were part of the carnival, trick or treating at the White House.
