The Federal Bureau of Investigation issued a warning to the NYPD and other police departments nationwide of a potential plot by an anarchist group planning a "Halloween Revolt" intended for participants to ambush police on Halloween.

The revolt is reportedly being planned by an extremist group known as the National Liberation Militia, which is encouraging members to dress in costume, cause a disturbance, and then ambush any police who come to help, the FBI said, according to The Washington Times.

The group has recommended that members wear typical Halloween masks and use weapons such as bricks, bottles and firearms, a press release said, according to The Daily Mail.

The NYPD Intelligence Bureau is monitoring the threat and said there is no known link between the threat and New York City law enforcement specifically, the FBI said, according to the New York Post.

News of this potential threat comes as law enforcement officers report feeling under siege after a string of deadly attacks have been perpetrated against them. At least 30 law enforcement officers have been shot to death in the U.S in 2015 thus far.
